The Sudan Human Rights
Organization Cairo Office and the SHRO-Cairo groups in Sudan are deeply
saddened with the sudden departure of Mahgoub Sid Ahmed, a founding member
of the Organization (in exile), a prominent trade unionist, and a renowned
human rights educator and activist who dedicated his whole life for the
workaday struggle to insure the full enjoyment of human rights and freedoms
for the People of Sudan.
The SHRO-Cairo activists
have closely known Mahgoub Sid Ahmed since the early days of inaugurating
the Organizations activities in exile. We have always admired him
as a devout activist for the enforcement of labor rights in the country,
as well as a conscientious educator of the national and international
labor legislation and activities at home or abroad.
The Organization
has deeply maintained the highest level of respect and admiration to Sid
Ahmed as a role model who exemplified the competency of leadership in
the struggle to insure full labor rights to the working people of Sudan.
The bravery and the sacrifice that Sid Ahmed consistently offered for
the cause of freedoms and human rights in the Sudan will always strengthen
the struggle for human rights and labor freedoms.
The Organization
joins with determination the masses of the Sudans workers and intellectuals
who have strongly pledged to continue the struggle that Sid Ahmed sincerely
led all his life, educating new generations, challenging and defeating
tyrannous regimes, and raising the banner of the Sudanese labor unions
in the regional and international arenas.
Our educational programs
and our training workshops will miss you, Sid Ahmed
We express our deep
condolences to Mahgoubs family, the Sudanese labor movement, and
the Sudans Civil Society
We pray: may the
Almighty Lord rest your soul in peace, Sid Ahmed.
Amen.
